Went to the Holland lighthouse with my oldest son this evening to shoot sunset. When we go out I work with him on how to shoot but we also work on how to work with folks we dont know to improve our photography. I believe (because I was one) that folks are generally not comfortable approaching strangers for their photos... I also now know that if you are open and direct with people that 80% of them will graciously agree and get a very nice surprise out of the experience. That is the case here.. There were 5 young adults at the end of the pier while we were shooting.. I asked the group if I could borrow a couple of them for models in front of the lighthouse. This lovely young lady and her friend made great models and were very nice. Nothing beats the look on peoples face when they realize that you took a really nice picture of them when they were expecting nothing... End of it my boy and I had a good discussion about how to be friendly and honest with people and how they will respond with the same... good evening. Hope the ladies love these shots

FIrst race of the summer series on Lake Macatawa in Holland, Michigan. Canceled due to fog. Nancy Anne is featured in this one. I have a small obsession with this boat. In a fleet of fiberglass behemoths this all wood (*) boat always catches my eye. She is so sleek and limber in the water. A treat to watch.

Nancy Anne. My favorite boat out of all the wednesday night racers. Small and slim, she stands out amongst all the other boats.
